Stormwater Analysis
Historically, stormwater percolated through soil and rock, which performed as natural filters for the water. However, as open ground has diminished due to development, stormwater now often flows directly into sewer systems, rivers and lakes without being filtered through the soil. As it is following across the surface of the ground, it picks up chemicals, pesticides, debris and other contaminants that are present on the roads, parking lots and ground. If this water, called stormwater runoff, is not treated, it could introduce the contaminants into the water supply, putting the quality of our drinking water at risk as well as introducing pollutants into lakes and rivers.
